In this third and final episode, firm Senior Associate & Data Protection Officer Irene Anthis-Christofide offers an overview of recent data breaches and data cybersecurity incidents in Cyprus in cyber-attacks to the University of Cyprus and the Land Registry Department of the Republic (2024) and the Cyprus Post (2025).


She also speaks to ongoing public warnings from the Cyprus Police etc. about various online scams and phishing attacks including those involving The Cyprus Central Bank, The Cyprus Electricity Authority, cryptocurrency, and artificial intelligence, before offering tips on protection against such attacks and scams.

Irene's main area of practice is Privacy and Personal Data Protection and is the firm’s Data Protection Officer. 


Irene’s work includes drafting and reviewing specialized documentation (e.g. contracts, consent forms, policies and procedures, data protection impact assessments, records of processing activities etc.), providing legal advice (e.g. GDPR compliance obligations, rights of individuals etc.), and representing clients in various disputes and procedures, including before the competent authorities.


She has experience in and provides legal services for various sectors including but not limited to the technology area, regulatory sector (AML, sanctions, EU Law matters etc.) and banking/finance sector (online banking area, provision of legal consulting services in various financial areas, etc.) as well as in matters of international law, constitutional law, human rights law, administrative law, labor law, matters of local governance and, in general, legal matters related to the sector of commercial enterprises.


Among her many professional highlights, Irene is providing legal services to the Cyprus Union of Municipalities in the Privacy and Personal Data Protection area regarding the Integrated Municipality System, the infrastructure for the digitalization of local government operations and services, to be used by all of the Cyprus Municipalities as part of the Local Authorities Reform.
